1) What’s the first album you remember loving as a kid?
I remember being just as terrified as I was in love with War Of The Worlds on Vinyl. My brothers used to torture me with it. They weren’t allowed to listen to it after 8pm because my poor little 10-year-old self was a weener.
I also remember my younger days (9 or 10) being super into Jars Of Clay’s first album. I loved their sound… they had emotion and a special energy. It wasn’t your typical “Christian” music. It was honest. It had color.
2) What as the first album you bought with your own money?
I can’t remember the very first I bought with my own money, but I remember being a junior counselor at a camp in Georgia at 15 and taking a trip to Borders Bookstore. I left with Elliott Smith “Either/Or” and Rufus Wainwright’s “Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk” courtesy of an employees suggestion. I was hooked.
3) What was the first local band that caught your ear?
When I first started playing music in Greenville, Niel Brooks blew me away. To this day he is still my favorite singer/song writer of this area.
There are so many amazing bands coming out of this area. I can’t recall the first band that caught my ears, but I’ll tell you that the first time I heard Hunter Park of She Returns From War I lost my mind. Blown away!
4) What’s the most recent album you bought or have been listening to lately?
I’ve been listening to Thom York’s “The Eraser” on repeat. I love rediscovering albums. Of the recent artists I’ve discovered in the past year I’ve been listening to Palace “So Long Forever” and Angel Olsen’s “My Woman”.
5) 2018 was a big year for you with your new album. What do you have in store for 2019?
2019 will be for short tours, recording new music and collaboration! I’m super exited to mix energies with people like Jordan Igoe and Justin Osborne. Cool things are on the way!
