What’s going on in the SC music scene?
David here. Last week The Post and Courier dropped its “Best of SC Music 2023: Top 20 SC albums of the year” list, and I’d like to debate it, but I mostly agree. I participated in the voting (along with ~100 other local music enthusiasts) and all of my top albums made the list except for Gamine and Reuben Knights.
Gabe and Cassidy from Gamine are stopping by the studio this week to record a podcast and maybe even play a few songs. Looking forward to sharing that with ya next week.
IN THE NEWS
- Trueline, a new $13 million entertainment venue, is set to transform Greenville’s West End into a happening music hub. Opening in 2025, this 34,000 square foot, two-story music hall will host top national performers and contribute to Greenville’s local economy, promising a boost for the community.
- South Carolina State Sen. Luke Rankin started a committee to examine the state’s soaring insurance costs, particularly affecting bars and venues. The move, addressing concerns of potential business closures due to rising liability insurance rates, aims to explore solutions for the growing financial strain on these establishments. The petition on Change.org currently has 10,503 signatures with a goal of 15,000.
