Listen to Larkin Poe
Larkin Poe will be playing at New Brookland Tavern this Friday March 18, two days before Spring is officially here. Why does this mean anything? In 2010 the Lovell sisters released 4 EP’s following each of the seasons of the year. While some bands may release maybe an album a year, each of Larkin Poe’s EP’s ranged between five and nine songs. Each EP is an effort to show fans their development as a band. A band that before January of 2010 was simply known as The Lovell Sisters.
Larkin Poe, based out of Calhoun, Georgia, embraces the traditional narrative story telling aspect of songwriting used throughout the history of music, but brought back into popular music by Bob Dylan in the 1960’s. They have been making their name over the last couple of years playing festivals around the Southeast and across America, performing with the likes of Elvis Costello at Merlefest last year. They will bring their youthfulness and stories to Columbia Friday night with Jade Blocker and A Fragile Tomorrow.
