Gamecock alum and electro dream pop darling Ernest Greene, also known as Washed Out, will be releasing his first full length album Within and Without July 12 on Sub Pop Records.
Within and Without was produced by Ben Allen, who also co-produced a handful of well respected albums such as Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavillion, Gnarls Barkley’s St. Elsewhere and Deerhunter’s Halcyon Digest. The new album will be a follow up to his two 2009 EP’s Life of Leisure and High Times. Life of Leisure produced the washed out summer sample “Feel it All Around”, which can be heard as the theme song for the IFC comedy Portlandia.
It will be interesting to see where Greene goes with his sound. Will he go organic like Toro Y Moi? Will he stick to sampling?
Will his mid summer album be the one that all of the fratstars play on the boat? Will this be the album make us dance?
Will this album make the PacNo love the deep South even more?
Is Sub Pop starting to realize that the South is the center of the good music universe and that even the good music being made in other places is being made by people from the South?
Will Ernest pass Chaz in the race for Chill Wave King?
What category will Warner Brothers put Washed Out in?
Have y’all heard of any other Sub Pop bands lately?
We shall surely see.

Any substance to the rumor that Sub Pop is taking a real hard look at Dance Commander?
