Sleigh Bells are playing Wednesday, May 4th
At The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC
These guys are going to be huge. Well, actually, they’re already getting there. Sleigh Bells are a dancey noise-pop duo from Brooklyn, NY and they are hitting the big time. Their debut album Treats has already sold 500,000 copies worldwide and with shows at major festivals this summer like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, I think it’s time everyone hops on board.
Guitarist and songwriter Derek Miller (one half of the duo) was originally in the hardcore band Poison The Well. You probably saw them at Warped Tour. If you’re not a fan of them, no fear, Sleigh Bells don’t sound anything like them. Except for Derek’s guitar playing which is definitely hardcore-influenced, but he has definitely enhanced his playing since Poison The Well. Alexis Krauss (the other half) was also in a band before Sleigh Bells, a teen-pop group called RubyBlue. I actually searched them up and let’s just say, I like Sleigh Bells a whole lot better.
This band is hitting the music scene hard, with a couple of their songs featured on up-and-coming rapper Childish Gambino’s mixtape and a stint on the MTV Woodie Awards (along with Odd Future). I have only heard great things about their live show and I would highly suggest you check this tour out or see them at a music festival this summer.
This band is so good. Can’t wait to see pictures from the show.
Have ya’ll heard of the band Fatetwister? They sound like a mix between AWOLNation and Foster The People. You should check them out! You can listen to their song “Red Carpet” here: http://fatetwister.viinyl.com/
Let me know what you think!
