Letter From a Concerned Follower Volume I

So I decided to start a new series of posts here on Scene SC called, Letter From a Concerned Follower.  Everyone can email us at Music@SceneSC.com and let us have it.  Tell us who we don’t cover enough, what you think we suck at and give us your opinion.

Scene SC,

I am a local music lover and have been for a very very long time. I think that the best talent and bands are most of the time found in the local bar or pub all over the country. And I have to say I love what you guys are trying to do here in South Carolina. We have some great talent that for some reason seems to slip through the cracks. As much as I do love what you guys are trying to do, bottom line, you suck at it. From what I have seen over the years, it is just a popularity contest with you. The only bands you promote or even think of are your drinking buddies. Now sometimes you do get it right. Austin Crane and Erich Skelton are unbelievable musicians and should be shared with the world. But what about Wylie or Erison(back in the day)? or CherryCase? (who from what i’ve heard was a huge hit in Nashville). I know you mention these guys but they are just as talented, if not better than some of the bands you promote. Either way I see it, bands around here would love help from you guys, but honestly, don’t need it. So if you want to get a little more respect from other people than just your friends, please start trying to look for REAL talent….

My response to everyone will go something like this, “It’s my site, I’ll cover who I want, when I want.”

Thanks for your concern concerned follower.  That’s awesome that you just think I just cover my drinking buddies.  That is actually pretty accurate.  I get to see most bands in bars, have a drink and meet them.  The the coolest part about Scene SC is the relationships I’ve developed from the website.

And really, I’ve always encouraged people to start their own websites/blogs if they don’t like the music I’m covering.

Here are some more local sites to check out if you don’t like ours:

Sons Club, Sound as Language, SC Hardcore, Music Matters, The Columbia Beet, About Today, Free Times

I’d be happy to add your blog to the list.

Check out our Youtube and Vimeo channels!  We have tons of live videos.
